TechCamp technology linkage

TechCamp Bucharest was all about showcasing some brilliant new technologies. It brought together and focused on NGOs trying to improve their governments but a lot of the tools have applications for businesses, students and individuals. Here are some of my favourites:

Frontline SMS are enabling some seriously amazing things with mobile phones.
Meet Up offers a great way to mobilise and coordinate local community groups.
Civic commons and Open Plans are doing some interesting work in opening up governments.
Maps! Didn't think anything new could be done with them? Check out the amazing work at Development Seed and Crisis Mappers.
And if you want to build them yourself, MapBox allows you to do some incredible things, with great mobile functionality. Crowdmap is also brilliant.
Want to build an amazing website in 20 minutes with virtually no computing skill? It is possible.
Crowdflower: the world's largest enterprise crowdsourcing platform.
Crisis Commons is harnessing tech power in emergencies and spreading globally. A group of friends and I are attempting something similar with The Shapers. If you want to help us build it let me know!
