About The Interpreter

The Interpreter aims to provide fresh insights into international events and a new way to experience and interact with the Lowy Institute. It will be required reading for anyone interested in the subjects covered by the Institute.

The content of the blog will reflect the research interests of our staff and fellows, and the concerns of our readers. We will comment on contemporary international political and strategic events, economics, trade, transnational issues like terrorism, climate change and epidemics, and Australian foreign policy.

The Interpreter will also provide a new perspective on the daily activities of the Lowy Institute. It will host interviews with some of the many scholars, policy-makers and opinion leaders who visit us. It will report on the debates and roundtables we host at our Sydney headquarters. And Lowy Institute staff will provide perspectives on countries they are visiting.

We seek a global audience, but our perspective is Australian. Like the Institute itself, The Interpreter has a strong commitment to analytic integrity. Its editorial stance is independent, non-partisan and directed towards informing and deepening the debate about international policy.
